Mutton Biryani Traditional Matka Style Non-Veg Rice Recipe Tasty Healthy Delicious Dinner

Matka Biryani

  • Mutton mix  (1 kg )
  • Rice basmati (1 kg)
  • Onion sliced (2 medium)
  • Tomato sliced (3 medium)
  • Green chilli (3 to 4)
  • Mint leaves (4 tbsp)
  • Yogurt (1 1/2 cup)
  • Cumin seeds ( 1 tbsp)
  • Nutmeg powder ( 1/2 tsp)
  • Mace powder (1/4 tsp)
  • Red chilli powder (1 1/2 tbsp)
  • Turmeric powder(1/2 tsp)
  • All spice powder (1 tbsp)
  • Food color yellow ( 1/2 tsp mixed in water)
  • Dried plums (8 to 10 pcs)
  • Lemon slices (1 tbsp)
  • Ginger garlic paste (2 tbsp)
  • Cumin seeds (2 tsp)
  • Salt (1 1/ 2 tsp)
  • Cooking Oil  (1/2 cup)


  1. In a pan add cooking oil and onions, fry until golden brown.
  2. Now add cumin seeds, saute and then add ginger garlic paste.
  3. Add mutton and fry until changes colour, Now add all the spices, tomatoes and whisked yogurt.
  4. Covere and cook on low flame until meat tenders .It can take upto 40 minutes.
  5. As the meat is fully cooked, dry the excess water and cook until oil separates.
  6. Boil rice in a pan with salt until 3/4 done. Use sieve and remove excess water.
  7. In a clay pot add mutton gravy layer wise with boiled rice. In between add mint, green chilli, tomato slices, dried plums, lemon slices and finally on top add yellow food colour.
  8. Cover the pot and cook on very low flame for 15 minutes.
  9. Serve hot with raita and salad.
