Ingredients

For Mohanthal

  • 2 cup coarse gram flour
  • 1 ½ Cup Ghee/Clarified butter
  • 1 ½ Cup sugar
  • Milk 4 tablespoons
  • ½ cup water

For Flavour and Garnishing

  • 10 – 12 chopped almonds
  • 10 -12 Pistachios
  • Silver varq 1 sheet
  • Pinch of nutmeg powder
  • 1 /4 tsp cardamom powder

Directions

  1. Take a non-stick pan and add 2 tablespoons milk, and 1 1/2 tablespoons ghee, and melt it on a medium flame until mixed.
  2. Take gram flour in a bowl, add the melted mixture of milk and ghee, mix it gently with both hands and remove all the crumbs.
  3. Take a sieve( not very fine sieve ) and pass it through all the mixture and make it lump-free.
  4. Take a nonstick pan and heat ¾ cup ghee on medium flame and add gram flour and saute/cook continuously until it turns into dark colour making sure to stir continuously. Now sweet aroma should come from the mix.
  5. Take 1 ½ cup of sugar to make a sugar syrup of 2 string consistency.
  6. Add nutmeg powder and cardamom powder to gram flour and mix gently.
  7. Keep it aside to cool down completely and add 2 tablespoons of milk to the sugar syrup and mix properly.
  8. Add sugar syrup slowly into the gram flour mixture and mix well.
  9. Take the tray and grease it with oil and pour the mixture into it. 
  10. Garnish with almonds and pistachios and press gently.
  11. Let it cool to cut into square pieces.
